It’s no secret that online dating can be a bit of a minefield, and more often than not, when do you meet up with a match, you’re never entirely certain how it’s going to go.
Sometimes it can go great, but sadly, that’s not always the case, and many daters have experienced being catfished, or arguably worse; their date not showing up at all.
One woman has revealed how she thought her date had done a runner halfway through their date, after he disappeared for 20 whole minutes after conveniently ‘forgetting his wallet.’
TikTok user Ashleigh ( @hai_im_ashleigh_ ) had been speaking to her date ‘Paul’ for several months before they were able to finally meet up, due to conflicting schedules, but when he heard she was hanging out at a shopping centre near where he lived, he offered to come over and meet her.
Since Ashleigh was with a friend, Paul offered to treat them both to dinner and she admits he seemed to be a “very nice guy.”
“We met him at a LongHorn steakhouse – he shakes her hand and hugs me,” she explained in a TikTok clip.
“Once we get to the door [of the restaurant], he starts patting his pants and goes ‘oh my god, I left my wallet [in the car]. Go ahead and put our name on the waitlist.”
More than 15 minutes later, Paul hadn’t come back, prompting Ashleigh and her friend to believe they’d been stood up, so they left and decided to get a McDonald’s instead.
“So I was sitting there, almost in tears, because I really liked this guy,” she continued. “And me and my friend just decide to leave and go grab some McDonald’s because I wasn’t really in the mood to get a steak dinner at that point.”
But, as they were leaving the restaurant, the pair noticed Paul’s car parked up nearby, so Ashleigh’s friend decided to march up to the vehicle and confront him.
“My friend went up to the car and let out a scream,” Ashleigh recalled, adding that she quickly ran over to see what all the fuss was about.
“Me being the nosy a** I am, went up to the car, looked in and saw this man butt a** naked. He just rolls down the window and says, ‘do you want to have a threesome?'”
It’s fair to say we’d rather have been stood up.
